Student Law Clerk and Post-Bar Opportunities
Research clerks research and write various pretrial motions in felony cases, primarily motions to suppress evidence and motions to dismiss the information for insufficiency of the evidence, under the supervision of attorneys on the Research Team. The research clerks are certified by the California State Bar and may appear in court under the supervision of an attorney. The research clerks are law students or recent graduates. Research clerks must be eligible for California State Bar Certification. Also, candidates must have completed Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Evidence, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
The research clerk positions are paid positions. During the school year, there are generally three twenty-hour-per-week positions. During the summer and fall, there are generally three to four forty-hour-per-week positions and a required commitment of a minimum of ten weeks. We hire for the summer, fall, and spring positions in November Positions in the fall are for post-bar law graduates.
