Acting Public Defender Addresses Court Interns
Acting Public Defender Damon Silver was honored to meet and talk with the summer interns of the Santa Clara County Superior Court. He enjoyed his time discussing the role of the Public Defender in the criminal legal system and answering the interns' questions. He was joined by Alternate Defender Brian Mathews, Independent Defender Sylvia Perez-MacDonald, and District Attorney Jeffrey F. Rosen. The interns expressed how much they appreciated the candor, the stories from the field, and the willingness to answer their thoughtful, and sometimes challenging, questions. The court appreciated having different perspectives, which helped the interns better understand the system’s complexity—and the importance of integrity, preparation, and empathy in each role. Godspeed to the interns in their burgeoning careers.
