19 years old and older
If a youth is held in Juvenile Hall on a juvenile case, they cannot be held there past their 19th birthday and will be moved to County Jail unless the county has obtained a waiver from the Board of State and Community Corrections. This is because there are rules (called “sight and sound separation”) that do not allow adults and minors to be housed together in a juvenile facility absent that waiver. Our local probation department does not currently have a waiver to hold anyone in a juvenile facility up to the age of 25.
